Thornley, Patricia (US)

crox 89, January 1999. Anton Cotteleer uses the bel-etage, Patricia Thornley the basement.

Edith Doove (De Standaard, 13 January 1999): Patricia Thornley's work is interesting in a different way. In her installations, houses and homelyness are presented and observed technically, from a distance. Five objects, probably all parts of a sink, hide behind a milk white panel. A gigantic aerial is connected to a very tiny tv set. The helmet-mounted searchlight projects its images of a fence or a shed./ In a series of B/W photos she shows a particular type of building. Through these careful and intimistic combinations Thornley expresses a deep concern for her subjects.
